Do they have a color for being so white you blind people on the beach? That's me. It would also have to come with freckles. Oh wait... that's not the point of your post?

This is so true. I have spent all of my thinking my flesh was ugly because of its wieght. I am now finding I have had beauty allof this time.
Its funny how life, love and more can teach youof your beauty, if only we look and listen.

Amen! This picture and your few words say so much!

Kia ora D'Arcy,
That is beautiful, just had me staring, thinking of how when I was a kid and what was taught to us as being "normal". A very thought provoking post my friend.

Thank you all for commenting here. I know it was a really simple post, but like smiles4u said, it says SO much. I actually have a MILLION words to say about this subject. I have experiences of others that I have seen lately. I had one of my students crying after class last week talking about how her friend's grandmother won't let her in the home because she's black. I had two of the sweetest Latino boys in the world tell me how they were walking down the street yesterday and some young children said, "Don't look at them, cause they'll probably pull a gun on us." I have a million stories floating around this brain of mine.

And then, I came across this picture today.

And I thought for the first time back to that crayola box of crayons I had as a kid. And the "flesh" color was all rosy and white like mine. And for the first time today I thought about what it would have been like to be a different color than what I am, and how I would have felt growing up in that world.

It's a heavy topic.

I have a hard time wrapping my brain around it all. But I'm trying.

Thanks, D'Arcy.
Way to post this on the only day in the last year that I've gone tanning.
It was only 5 minutes, I swear.
Sometimes going to a gym can be a bad thing, can't it?
The peer pressure to look like a model is intense.

Wow, to your own comment, D'arcy.

It's a lovely image, though.

Agreed. This one just really does though, doesn't it? Like a jolt to the senses and to a train of thought.

I liked this post D'Arce. Although when younger, I sometimes hated my skin color, now I can't imagine being any different.

I meant what I said so much that I wrote it twice :)

We've come a long way. My 5 yr old was looking through his markers the other day and picked up brown and said, "Hey, I need this skin color for my picture."

Very creative and to the POINT, not to make a pun. They are ALL beautiful.

A picture is worth a thousand words. :)

Seconded.

For centuries, mankind has celebrated diversity in canines, while flouting it within our own species.

Turning a corner slowly, methinks.
