The "Taming" of the Shrew

At the beginning of May my drama class put on the second production the school of ours has ever seen. Working at a Math, Science, and Engineering school means less attention to the arts....until I came along. Last semester was a modern version of Much Ado About Nothing set in a high school. This semester we did a 1940s/feminist version of The Taming of the Shrew.
I didn't have much money for costumes, but thanks to my awesome friend Eleanor (she has an etsy shop!) I got some awesome headbands and the rest of the costumes just kind of came together. I also taught myself the first things about stage make-up and bought the stuff to do the classy 1940s look with stage foundation (so different than what most people use on a regular basis) and lots of other cool tricks! I think it turned out pretty well.

The cast and crew of The Taming of the Shrew!! A Success!

Is this your dream job or what? Kids that actually want to act for you? And you got to learn make-up too?
WOWZER!!
I remember you trying to "herd" all of the neighborhood kids and trying your best to get us to do something we were really no good at. :) (Acting) you tried so hard, I could tell it was your passion. (well, that and frogger)
I glad to read you are doing something that makes you happy!!
Good Job D'Arcy!!
Oh, and much luck to your exotic summer vacation.

That looks awesome! Yay for HS plays! We could never get out students to come to rehearsals, so any play we tried crumpled. It was a very small school though, not many for an acting pool.

That is the only Shakespeare play I actually like! I wish I could have seen it!
