I love camping. I need to tell you guys all the stories. Here was a highlight. I spent a good deal of the time seeing the wonders of nature through the eyes of my niece. Here she is so proud to give me a flower she picked.
Teaching her young the importance of a journal.
The family faithful pet and Annie.
My beautiful mother and sister laughing after saving the volleyball game by diving into the lake to get the ball.
The sun shining on our campground.

beautiful pictures, d'arcy. i love camping, too. it's just been so long since i went, i'd almost forgot. your pictures reminded me, so thanks!
Wow, jackets in June...
Where are/were y'all camping?
Kia ora D'Arcy,
Love the post and photos. Camping is so cool. So simple and rewarding, especially being with people you love. Nature seems to put a smile on most people's faces. Interesting you write of "seeing the wonders of nature through the eyes of my niece". I did exactly the same with my youngest son Charlie -5- this past weekend. It is a philosophy I try to enact even when on my own in the mountains, but the sheer joy and innocence of a child is difficult to emulate - though a goal worthy of striving towards. Kia ora.

I might as well out myself to you on your blog (since we're still just getting to know each other :)) that I am so not a nature person or a camping person and although I appreciate your pictures and that you had a great time, this is not my bag. Amazing how I still seem to get along with so many outdoorsy people in my life, huh?
This looks like such a fun family trip. And that first photo is adorable. You are so good at capturing memories in writing and on film.
Looks like a wonderful, simple, perfect time.
Glad you had such fun - thanks for sharing the photos of your beautiful family! :-)
